Honda's Complete Redesign: Can the RC213V Return to Glory?

MotoPortal StaffFebruary 19, 2026

Honda Racing Corporation has taken the most radical approach of any manufacturer for 2026, completely redesigning the RC213V from the ground up. The new machine features a revised V4 engine with a screamer-style firing order, a new aluminum frame concept, and aerodynamics developed in collaboration with Honda's F1 wind tunnel facility at Sakura.

Joan Mir and Luca Marini have been testing the new bike extensively, and initial feedback has been cautiously optimistic. Mir described the 2026 RC213V as 'a completely different motorcycle' compared to its predecessor, praising the improved rear grip and corner-exit acceleration.

The appointment of new technical director Shinichi Kokubu, who previously worked on Honda's successful Moto2 program, has brought fresh ideas and a more collaborative approach to development that riders and engineers alike have welcomed.
