2026 Sepang Test Recap: Key Takeaways from Three Days in Malaysia

MotoPortal StaffFebruary 20, 2026

The official 2026 MotoGP pre-season test at Sepang International Circuit provided three days of intense running, with all 22 riders completing extensive programs. The headlines were dominated by Marc Marquez's blistering pace on the factory Ducati, topping the timesheets on all three days with a best time that was 0.8 seconds faster than the 2025 pole position.

Pedro Acosta was the surprise package, finishing second overall just 0.15 seconds adrift on the updated KTM. Jorge Martin on the Aprilia was third, while Pecco Bagnaia focused on race pace and long-run consistency rather than outright speed.

The biggest technical talking point was Yamaha's aggressive new aerodynamic package, which features a radical rear ride-height device and revised fairing that helped Fabio Quartararo and Toprak Razgatlioglu break into the top ten consistently.
